Insurance Information
Medicare stands as the largest health insurance program in the United States, offering coverage to individuals aged 65 and older, as well as to those under 65 who have been permanently disabled for at least ten years.
If you are 65 or older or meet Medicare eligibility requirements, you may qualify for hospice care services at no cost through St. Markoss Hospice Care. Medicare covers services that are considered reasonable and necessary for the treatment of your diagnosis or condition, ensuring you receive comprehensive and compassionate care during your time with us.
At St. Markoss Hospice Care, we prioritize transparency. We will clearly explain what Medicare covers and provide both verbal and written notifications about any services not covered by Medicare, along with their associated costs.
For individuals with supplemental insurance, additional services beyond Medicare coverage may also be available to enhance your care experience.
Medicare is divided into two main parts, each designed to cover specific healthcare services, including hospice care. Here’s a breakdown of how Medicare works and what it means for hospice care at St. Markoss Hospice Care.
Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Eligibility:
You become eligible for Part A at no additional cost once you turn 65, provided you or your spouse has paid Medicare taxes for a required number of years during your employment.
Coverage:
Part A primarily covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and certain home health services.
Hospice Care Specifics:
For hospice care, Part A covers all medically necessary services related to the hospice diagnosis. This includes:
Nursing care
Medical equipment and supplies
Prescription medications for pain relief and symptom management
Support services for both the patient and their family, such as counseling and bereavement care
Part B (Medical Insurance)
Enrollment:
Part B requires enrollment when you turn 65, and it involves a monthly premium. If you qualify for Medicaid or have other third-party coverage, these may help cover the premium costs.
Coverage:
Part B complements Part A by covering services such as:
Doctor’s visits
Outpatient care
Physical and occupational therapy
Certain home health services not covered under Part A
Additional Services:
Part B also includes coverage for durable medical equipment, mental health services, and preventive care to support overall health and well-being during hospice care.
